she knows she’s never been the best dancer. like ever. ruby could never seem to keep herself upright. or maybe it was the stupid heels trapping her feet in this moment, furthering her prominent lack of grace outside the battlefield. it felt uncoordinated, & simply impossible.
at least … that’s how it felt without a partner.
even with blake’s taller presence there to guide her, hands circling her waist to keep red form upright, there was still a stumble here & a little trip there. ruby had lost count of how many times she’d stepped on the faunus’ poor feet. she felt so bad & apologized several times. but the taller would forgive her every time, & honestly … it made ruby smile to be with her like this. after a while – after she finally relaxed into the dance, the embrace – she felt okay. her feet didn’t stray, her chest was no longer tight & coiled with worry. it was just her with blake, completely blocking out anything else that surrounded them.
& it was the best time she’s ever had wearing heels.
